From carpet-covered pine flooring to a refreshed matt finish
Beneath the carpet in this Curtin home was an existing pine timber floor, hidden from view and marked by ink stains from newspaper covering the boards. Restoring flooring like this requires careful sanding to remove old surface marks and reveal the natural character of the timber.

For this project, we sanded the pine floor to prepare the surface for a fresh finish, transforming the previously covered boards into a clean, refreshed timber floor. The restoration brought the pine flooring back into view, giving the room a more natural timber appearance.
To complete the project, we applied Berger-Seidle CeramicStar in a matt finish. The matt sheen provides a subtle, understated appearance that allows the character of the pine to remain the focus without a high-gloss look.

This project demonstrates how existing timber floors hidden beneath carpet may offer an opportunity to refresh a home without replacing the flooring. The final result depends on the condition of the original boards and how deeply marks have penetrated the timber, particularly when dealing with ink stains.
If you have pine flooring hidden beneath old carpet or timber boards that need attention, professional sanding and polishing may be worth considering before committing to replacement.
