Nordic White Magic to revitalise your Pine Floors
Pine has always held a special place in the timber flooring world due to its availability, price, softness underfoot, and its rustic charm. Lets face it, the warm golden yellows and oranges from the past coud make any fabulous space seem tired and aged. Enter Nordic White! A fresh and modern way to reinvigorate tired, outdated pine floors.
Transform Your Floors with Nordic White
In a recent project, a couple decided to upgrade their dated warm toned pine flooring. They dreamed of a bright and minimalist floor finish that left their natural timber charm, while making their home feel Scandi-chic instead of 90s cottage. With the help of our floor sanding team and a coat of Nordic White water-based finish, the end result was amazing!
Why Light Timber Floors are Continuing to Grow in Popularity
More home owners and designers are using light timber flooring and for good reason:
- Creates visual space – Light tones reflect more light creating the feeling of spaciousness and openness.
- Aesthetic versatility – Complements modern, coastal, minimalist or Scandinavian design themes.
- Timeless – A beautiful floor in a natural timber tone is timeless and will be considered beautiful in 10, 20, or 30 years from now.
Step By Step: How We Turned These Pine Floors Around
This isn’t a matter of guesswork. This is a process based on practice and using the right products.
Sanding: Stripping It Back to Naked Beauty
We began the process by sanding everything right back to bare timber

First Coat: The Build-Up.
The first coat of Nordic White was in. We instantly changed the timber from orange to cooler and more contemporary variations that immediately brightened the space while still allowing the grain to shine through.
Second Coat: Building Texture.
The second coat wasn’t simply a repeat of the first as it was also a refinement of process. This coat evened out any variance while ensuring consistency through the room while visually tying the whole floor together.
Topcoat: The Lasting Layer.
In the end, we sealed all in with the ceramic-infused, water-based, polyurethane topcoat. This protective layer gave everything:
Scratch resistance – Great for pets, great for kids, great for busy homes.
Water resistance – Ideal for kitchens, living areas & light commercial use.
These floors are not just beautiful, they are designed for real-life.
